NEW MEXICO REPUBLICAN STATE PARTY CONVENTION
01 March 2014 – 29 Adar I, 5774
ALBUQUERQUE – Banquet rooms and hallways filled with party regulars, some looking and sounding like the dedicated vein of a Marxist May Day celebration, crammed the Albuquerque Uptown Marriott Friday night at a Meet-&-Greet and Saturday at the Republican Party Pre-Primary Convention.
As a member of the County and State Central Committees, I made it a point to meet and talk to each and every candidate present with the sole and exclusive exception of Her Majesty Queen Governess Susana Martinez who is still in a leftwing skid following her return from the National Party Fiasco … Convention … in Tampa. She was not available. My reputation for right-between-the-horns honesty had obviously preceded me.
Which was the greater encounter, down-their-nose or elect-me-as-god-and-I'll-be-somewhat-merciful-to-all-your-generations-who-manage-to-survive is still up for grabs with TWO – repeat: THREE – notable exceptions: candidates Allen Weh, David Clements (U.S. Senate) and Richard Priem (U.S. House, NM District 1). Weh, Clements and Priem were open, listened to concerns, answered honestly, and without denigrating their respective opponents. All were forthright and did not attempt to avoid any personal issues, false or imagined, as spewed against them like cess from a ruptured sewer main by those of far-lesser honor and integrity, and far-greater desperation.
Additionally three, Jefferson Byrd (U.S. House, NM District 3), Robert Aragon (State Auditor) and Scott Baird (Bernalillo County Sheriff) were accessible, open, honest, sincere and without a great deal of fanfare. Publicity is important. Yet publicity of itself, regardless of how massive, does not guarantee the greater qualities represented by these five, Clements, Priem, Byrd, Aragon and Baird.
Unfortunately, there were too few unchallenged offices, mostly filled by the well-ensconced who are then and there, here and now, responsible for the perpetual disaster into which New Mexico has degenerated.
